Frequently Asked Questions

Query #1 How is older people's health different form that of younger people?

Older people are more vulnerable to stresses (eg. trauma, infections, surgeries) compared to younger people. The recovery process can be more difficult and more care demanding compared to younger people.

Query #2 Why older people are more vulnerable to the complications of COVID-19 infections?

There are 2 main reasons behind it. Firstly, with increasing age, the immunity in older people gets weaker which predisposes them to increased risk of complications of infections. Similarly, with age, the bodily reserve gets weaker. Because of which, the organs of the body can't readily get back to their earlier state.

Query #3 Can COVID-19 present differently in older people?

Yes. The older people in their extremes of ages can get infected but may not show typical symptoms like fever. Abrupt decline in activities, increased lethargy and sleep, confusion to surroundings can be the initial symptoms of infection in older people.
